Established in 2004, APSL is an association open to all Sri Lankans in the UK, irrespective of their ethnicity, creed or political affiliation. Our aim is to promote unity and professionalism among the Sri Lankans, foster good will and cultural relations in the UK, as well as support relief and development activities in Sri Lanka.
The High Commission of Sri Lanka (SLHC) in the United Kingdom and the Association of Professional Sri Lankans (APSL) in the UK are pleased to jointly announce the SLHCโAPSL Research Symposium 2026, scheduled to take place on Friday, 3rd July 2026, from 9.30 am to 7.30 pm at the Sri Lanka High Commission in London.
This symposium aims to bring together Sri Lankan academics and professionals based in both UK and Sri Lanka and the key objectives of the Symposium are to:
Postgraduate researchers are invited to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations and expected to attend the event in person.
Submission Details:
All abstracts will be reviewed by an academic panel. Further guidance on abstract submission is provided below.
We strongly encourage participation from across disciplines and look forward to welcoming contributions that will help strengthen collaboration and research impact between Sri Lanka and the UK.

Please submit your abstracts to education@apsl.org.uk with a copy to slhc.london@mfa.gov.lk by 11.59 pm on Friday 22nd May 2026. Due to the limited availability of the places, you are encouraged to submit your abstracts as soon as possible.
Oral Presentations
Oral Presentations: 10 minutes with 5 minutes for questions. Timings will be strictly enforced. You may be expected to record your presentation prior to the event.
The presentation must represent the independent research of the presenters. The following criteria will be considered by the Assessment Panel: The quality of the content, Overall presentation, and Presenter's engagements with questions.
Poster Presentations
A dedicated session will be allocated for poster presentations as part of the symposium programme. For judging purposes, each presenter will be given a specific time slot to present their poster, providing an opportunity to discuss their work and respond to questions from the Assessment Panel.
